Blue Suede Cruise
Back in May we walked around at the Blue Suede Cruise for a little while and JC really liked the fixed-up old cars. But what is so funny is that he calls them "new" cars because of how shiny and pretty they are. Whenever we see a fixed-up antique he tells us to look at the "new" car! Cute kid!
I am back...
OK, so I have been back all week, but this is my first chance to post. I came back to work on Monday but have been really busy all week.
Curtis' surgery went fine. He had very little pain in his nose but was sore most of the week throughout the rest of his body. A nurse told us that his body probably fought the anesthesia and remained tense for the duration of the surgery causing him to be very sore afterwards. He said it felt like he had a broken ribs. (No, I promise I did not beat him up while he was out.) But that passed and we were able to spend 4th of July with my family like we always do. Then, he JC and I went golfing on Saturday which was a lot of fun. Let me clarify that... He and JC golfed and I rode in the golf cart. We probably should have just done 9 holes as he was feeling pretty crummy by the end of 18. He might have overdone it a little bit less than one week out from surgery.
I hope to be updating some more today and tomorrow. I have lots of new pictures I want to share. I just need to make the time to upload them and blog.
I have been checking the blogs of friends and it looks like everyone is having a great summer! Hope you all are doing well!

Nasal Septoplasty
Curtis is going under the knife on Monday for nasal septoplasty. Some of you may remember the health problems he was having earlier this year. After lots of testing and medications, an ENT specialist determined that he has a deviated septum. So, this will be repaired on Monday. The surgery doesn't sound very fun at all. The scraping of a bone spur is involved. YIKES! If you so desire you can read more about septoplasty here.
I will be taking a week of vacation to be home with him for his recovery. So, I will be away from the computer for a while but will be back with an update sometime the next week.
Curtis is more than a little nervous about the surgery as this is the first time he has ever been put to sleep. I ask that you keep Curtis and his surgeon in your prayers Monday morning. We know that God is in control, and we trust in Him.
Have a safe and HAPPY 4th of July!!!

Early morning rat encounter
This morning we were running late getting out of the house and I knew I was going to miss getting JC to school on time for breakfast, so I told him I would make him some chocolate milk. When I went in the kitchen I found that someone had already polished off the milk. So I decided to run through the McDonald's drive-thru for chocolate milk and a McGriddle (one of the best inventions ever, btw) for JC. When I was driving from the ordering speaker over to the fist window I heard an awful commotion coming from the window. The ladies inside the restaurant were yelling over the Tahoe in front of me to the male McD's worker walking across the parking lot. As I got closer I heard them saying, "Get over here. It's a rat!" To which he replied, "I don't work for no pest control." Then I saw him... the rat, that is.
He was climbing on the side of building right beside the window where you pay. He was just about level with my car window (which was down). When I got even with him he just kind of stopped and looked at me. Of course JC was trying to figure out what was going on because of all the people yelling. I should have rolled up my window (what if he had jumped in? OMG. I don't even want to think of what I would have done...), but I just kind of froze there. After looking and me and sniffing around a little he scampered off into the bushes beside the building. The ladies inside were pretty excited about this early morning action, but they didn't look that shocked about it. I am guessing it was not the first rat they've seen there. JC went ahead and ate his breakfast, but we will probably be taking a little break from that McD's for a while...
